Netflix originally offered a Wii Instant Streaming Disc free of charge to all Netflix members. In October 2010, they announced a new version downloadable from the Wii Shop Channel and made the discs obsolete. Nintendo discontinued the Wii Shop Channel on the original Nintendo Wii on January 30, 2019. As a result, video streaming services - including Netflix - are no longer available to any original Wii users. The Nintendo Wii U can still be used to stream Netflix.
